The Government has launched a scheme to enable people to claim back part of the application fee paid to the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) to register Lasting Powers of Attorney between 1st April 2013 and 31st March 2017.
The claim can be made by the person making the Power of Attorney (the Donor) or by the Attorney. The refund must be paid to the Donor. Only one claim need be made per Donor even if more than one Power of Attorney was made.
The claim may be made online and the Donor‘s UK Bank Account number and Sort Code will need to be provided.
A claim can also be made by telephone for those who do not have a computer or cannot use one easily. If the Donor does not have a UK Bank Account or the Donor has died the claim must be made by telephone. For further information or help the Refunds Helpline should be contacted.
